|Chestnut Canoe For Sale is a Pre-1920 Chestnut Canoe. It appears to be a Gooseberry Model and is very simular to my Chum. It still has half the orginal canvas and still has the original gunwales.

It is a Sport Model with 24" Torpedo decks and all Mahogany top wood, and a very rare find. It was manufactured in Veazie Maine about 1918. Katherine Kloss has written a book, The Morris Canoe, which is available thru the WCHA on line store and it summaries her research on the history of the Morris manufacturing company and the family and individuals who created it. Wonderfully capable with a substatial load, and easily carrying 4 adults, this vintage beauty is a boat unlike any other.

A number 10 canvas is applied to the exterior with a high quality marine filler to make a waterproof seal. Marine paint applied to exterior. Spar varnish interior. These canoes weigh approximately 60#. Easily managed for transporting and portage. Can be paddled tandem or solo.
